Pollinate update

Whooosh and now its December...how did that happen!!!

Life has till been a little crazy here with Dr appointments etc but on Friday Hubby got his license back...its been a hell of doctors, specialists, tests etc and fights with the RTA but he can drive after 4 long months...and to celebrate I had a day to myself on Friday where I went to town, did some shopping and visited Miss Khrissy. I joined her in picking up her kids from school and had squeals of delight as I haven't seen her babies for a while...I think I ventured  home around 5.30pm.
Usually I'm on a tight schedule for the school pickup and the bus run etc... it was soo nice having a relaxing day......
On the sewing front, I'm still plodding along with my Pollinate quilt...am loving it and its growing quickly, but my poor thumb keeps getting stabbed here n there lol

I'm on the second last colour row...only have two more star - hexi sections to go and Ill add them to the growing quilt... I'm not sure how productive Ill be when there is limited fussy cutting with the low volume fabrics....

Id like to have this quilt finished by the end of January as I've signed up for Sarah Fielkes BOM again...its the only new quilt for next year...I just typed those words and already I'm thinking ohh DD1 needs a quilt and the boat needs some quilts lol .....but I do need to finish a few UFOs first.......hehehe

Pollinate quilt

Ive been a busy little bee the past few weeks...my MIL is in hospital awaiting an aged care assessment then the next step will be a home....its such a slowwww process.....
But on the bright side I can share a pic of one of my 100 day 100 blocks quilt...

Im just waiting for my second 100 days quilt and my Natures Journey quilt top which is being custom quilted.... that will equal 4 quilts completed in 3 months woohooo... oooh ok two quilt tops were finished in 2016 lol

So, what do you do when you have a finish...well, you start another quilt of course!! I loved the stitchalong with the 100 days blocks and the inspiration so Ive jumped on board with the Pollinate quilt being run by @nightquilter and @karenthediyaddict on instagram...Im using the left over fabric from my 100 days...ummm I did have to buy a few more Tula pink FQs so I had a good balance of colour...

The blocks are coming together nicely...loving the fussy cutting where I can.....I think I need to buy some...lots lol of low volume neutrals for the background.....
Although life has been really hectic and hubby still isnt driving...sigh....Im finding my sewing keeps me sane......

Bathurst Bloggers Meet 2018

I just spent the last 4 days with a bunch of incredible ladies, whom I am also lucky enough to call my friends at the Bathurst Bloggers Meet which I organised. We had a great time full of lots of laughter, late nights, early mornings and hours and hours and hours of sewing....

I worked on my Ruby quilt...

And completed my 100 Days 100 blocks quilt. I split mine to make two single quilts for my girls with Tula Pink All Stars fabric...and its already been taken by one of the girls to quilt.

And last I worked on my "Slow Stitching"which I just love....tis my new addiction

All in all I had a fabulous time ....

More slow stitching...

After two nights of slow stitching....working on a blue piece this time...

I think the branch and its leaves set the whole piece... I am soo loving this style of hand stitching......I need a day trip searching vinnies for old haberdashery items, cotton, crochet lace, trims etc...I havent finished my green one yet...just looking for more trim...love the little hexi, might add some to my green piece.

Its the holidays, hubby still cant drive and sees the specialist next week, therefore holidays at home... only a few outings here n there planned...lots of time for stitching whilst the kids kayak or play along the river...yes we are lucky the Turon River borders 2kms of our property and the river is flowing again...happy days....

Slow stitching

This week I attended a workshop at the Home Patch with Lisa Maddock of Forage. The class was excellent. We learnt how to draw inspiration from boro, sashiko, and kantha. We used a variety f repurposed and vintage fabric with some of our own stash and mixed them together to create a background, then added an embellishment if naive stitches to create our own piece.

I stayed up till 1am the night of the class and didnt want to go to bed, I just wanted to keep stitching'..

Im really loving this technique all done by hand...my absolute favourite....

the following pis are of  some of Lisas work...this first one is stunning..this one is next on my list/...loving the liberty flowers!!!

Lisa calls this one the Botanicals

A few ladies in the class did these pairs...soo cute..

This one the background is made up of upholstery scraps..and the all the fibres are left for texture..was stunning..

Farmers Wife 2018

As usually IM a sucker for a sewalong....this time its the Farmers Wife. I bought the book years ago when I started stashing reproduction fabrics, so this sewalong grabbed me. Its all done by epp (another excuse) which I lurve and havent been doing a lot lately. Ive done the first three blocks. The goal is 2 blocks a week. I had good intentions as this has been running for three weeks now..the first week it started my hubby got sick, so its been a slow road back to catching up. IM only 2 blocks behind now...

Each day I have been on task and sewing my 100days100blocks, sometimes even at 11pm at night when Ive forgotten BUT I have not missed a day. Today is day  64 and I have some gorgeous Tula Pink Allstar Blocks to prove it. Ive been fussy cutting where I can and am having a ball. I try to cut out all the fabric for a weeks worth of blocks and if I know Ill be busy on a certain day then I will sew the block in advance..

I need to decide on sashing, for both of these quilts....hmmm...decisions, decisions....
I am also knitting at night and have just finished a beanie for the son in law...tis soo nice when they ask you to make something for them...

I got news this morning a friend in my sewing group has a brain tumour, my hubby was diagnosed with prostate cancer almost 12 months ago and had a stroke three weeks ago...give your loved ones e a hug, pick up the phone, visit them, make time for them and dont forget to always tell them you love them!!!!!!

Both of my sewalong information can be found at www.gnomeangel.com.

More 100 days....

My days are filled with #100days100blocks2018 over on the dark side....Im sewing along with gnomeangel and  Im happy as Ive made a block everyday or if Ive been out Ive made sure Ive made the block the day before..... Im heading back to Royal Far West next week and cant take a sewing machine, so I will need to do a weeks worth of blocks before I go....Ive ordered some more Tula Pink solids as I started with only 10"layer cake and I dont have much fabric left... I am happy with the blocks and Ive been trying to fussy cut where I can..... we are a third of the way through...I can see myself sticking to this... one day I was busy but I ran to the sewing room at 11pm and sewed up my block...I try to keep a weeks worth but out..Im finding this helps...

The next sewalong is the Farmers Wife 1920 EPP sewalong which starts next Friday..yep Im gonna do that too...loving the 10-20mins a day, where I tell the family...oops gotta go sew!! Love it!

Most nights now Im knitting and I found this book on line and just love my new "dishie"cotton. Ive made two dishcloths so far one for my mum and one for me...Mum says it was too pretty to use for the dishes so she will use it in the bathroom..... they knit up quickly and I love all the different designs, although I love this cable stitch (which isnt really a cable)....

Ahhh who doesnt love a creative life.....

Next week is full on with kids appointments and our Annual P&C Trivia Night.....so trying to knit, sew, read and anything else while I can hehehehe

What a busy week it has been, the kidlets have returned from Grandmas after spending a few days. Hubby is still away till Wednesday...then he's off to Melbourne to pick up Miss14 from her Nannas.

So, whats a girl to do, but sew.... because Lost in Play is sponsoring Day49 of Gnome Angels #100days100blocks.... I had an excuse to join in...IM having a great time and although its everyday, I am cutting blocks ahead of times and sewing the blocks early if I know I will be busy that day... Its sooo nice to be sewing again....

These are the first six blocks and Im using Tula Pink's All Stars, Spirit Animal and De La Luna fabrics...Im not a "brights"girl but am lovely the artistry of Tulas fabrics... cant wait to see this one finished. I love the "sewalongs"as they keep you focused and on track...well for me it works ...
This is an ïnstagram sewalong but IM sure people are blogging about their adventures too...

I bought this book last year and missed the sewalong due to life but I was determined to play this year...I just need to decide on the sashing, but Ive got a while till I need too...

Another project that is calling me is ShiraleeStitches  BOM "Ruby"...might have a play this afternoon as I have the first month of the BOM on my desk....calling.... calling.....

And each night I've been knitting my Eskimo Drops hoodie jacket, I've finished the back and started the front last night...but pics next time...its sooo nice to have my creative mojo back....

Saturday 9 June 2018

Hello long weekend...

Ahh the rain has arrived, the fire is smouldering and the kids have contact till late afternoon. Hubby is meeting his daughter somewhere along the Bylong Way to pick up his grandsons tablets, so he will be gone for a while too, he took Mr 12 (grandson) with him for the early morning drove. Ive just dropped Miss 15 at the Painted Horse Cafe in Sofala where she now works. Am I alone? Afraid not, I have Miss 12 who arrived yesterday morning staying with us for the long weekend.
She is happy to watch movies whilst I catch up with blogs and on my third cuppa this morning.

I finally caved and bought the latest and last two issues of Laine Magazine. I have been following the magazine on Instagram and really enjoy their posst and stories. Therefore I'm planning on sitting and having a good read before lunch and maybe after too. The issues have soo many lovely projects, and the photography is amazing.

Life has been busy of late with fostering and doesn't leave much time for crafting. I have only managed to knit a few rows each night of my new knitting project (insert sad face). I bought the wool a while ago and its a chunky soft knit, cant wait to wear it, oops I mean finish it.

I spend a lot of time working on Lost in Play now, painting, designing graphics, visiting preschools etc... and that equates to no sewing....and don't get me started on my sewing mojo...she has left the building!!!!
When I went to our sewing group the other week, it took me ages before I pulled out something to sew and then I had a sore thumb, poor thing not used to epp'n anymore... So....I need to allocate at least 20 mins a day to sew, its my first love and I've been missing her greatly..........will take me 20 mins to sort out work to work on ...soo many WIPs hahahaha...
