A great afternoon

Im having a rare day to myself today. I had a cuppa with a lovely friend this morning and then came home to attack my sewing to do list. On my list today is Septembers Nine patch blocks; yes Im early woohoo....

This gorgeous one is in Dubbo today at the NSW Regionals. Miss 10 qualified for the junior shot put. I have been getting hourly updates. They arrived in Dubbo at 8.30am to register and at 1pm, she's still waiting to make her shot. Whatever the outcome of her long day (she's didn't like her 5am piccy lol) Im sure there will be smiles.... Go Maddi!!!!!!!!!!

I'm happy to report I have had a productive week with lots of finishes....yay me!

My August Nine patches are complete, not too many months now till this swap is finished. Can't wait to finish this swap and receive all my blocks....I thought I would get out of my comfort zone and use purple this month; then I checked what I have done so far and I have a few months where I used purple hues ...cest la vie...another tick please Trish!

Needle book swap

I was lucky to be asked by the lovely Leanne from "Lizzie the Quilter" to do a one on one needle book swap. I received this lovely Needle book in my favourite French General fabrics!!! So gorgeous!! And a cute card too...Thanks Leanne..

and this is what I sent Leanne in her favourite Bonnie and Camille fabrics... I adapted an Anni Downs pattern.

I have been busy machine sewing this afternoon yay! But more on that the kidlets want afternoon tea. Its sooo hard to type the last few lines on a blog when all you hear is ( imagine four high whining voices) Immmmm sooooooo HUNGRYYYYYYYYY !!!! but before I go I want to say, I caught the baking bug too!!! ( soo many baking posts lately...not from me thou lol) I made a double batch of chocolate chip cookies this morning. Theres nothing like a hot chocolate and a choc chip cookie, maybe three to satisfy a childs grumbling belly and cease the high pitch whining!! Hope you have all had a nice weekend, I have!

For the bookshelf

Like a few in blog land I was weak and bought the Angles with Ease book and ruler, thanks Lea for the final push lol!  Another addition to my bookshelf is a Tilda book, not my normal reading but I love the little pussy cats!

Not a lot to report sewing wise as Im slowly working through my UFOs, I finished three or four today by passing them on to my sewing buddys... to finish and keep themselves......does that qualify as a UFO finish??? Hope so, as the list is smaller now.

Retail Therapy

I went to the dentist yesterday and my mouth was a little sore, so what's a girl to do???? Why call into The Home Patch of course....nothing makes me feel better than a little wander around the store and a few purchases..... All to be put away as a reward for completing my UFOs, except for the La Belle Fleur  jelly roll, which I need for a project.

Sunday secret sewing....

A sneek peek of what has been keeping me a little busy these last few days......shhhh... gotta  love a secret!!!

Saturday 10 August 2013

Today my goal is declutter and organise my files in my sewing room......whilst waiting for a paper shredder (hubby's gone to the shed) I decided to quickly start to trim my pies blocks back ready to piece together.....nothing like a "to do list" to keep you motivated.....hope your having a productive day too!

Angels Story completed

Another tick on my UFO list!  Have had two sewing days this week....I know sooo lucky!!!!

it's off to the quilters....I don't have the time to quilt it as I have a few UFOs sooo close to completion. Ive decided to get most of them professionally quilted to save me time, plus there is a lot of handwork in these quilts so they deserve a nice finish lol.

I had a bit of help today cutting out the backs of my pie blocks.  Will need a good well watched movie playing whilst I pull  out all those pie papers....

Tis a nice feeling to finally finish a quilt. How many UFOs left now.....eleven yay ....on this list anyway!

Pies n Tarts update

I have been very conscientious spending at least an hour a day on my UFOs. Today it's Pies n tarts; I have three more pies to sew, then all 144 pies are complete. I have 8 more tarts to piece then I'll be able to start sectioning this quilt together (will take a little while lol).

I'm about to start machine sewing the last quarter of my An angels story quilt....lets hope I can complete it tis afternoon....fingers crossed

An Angels Story....

Remember this quilt, this morning I made a list of all my outstanding UFOs. I stopped at 12, as I need to be realistic as to what I can finish this year.

This quilt just needs the last quarter sewn together. I've laid out all the blocks, taken pics and will have to pack it up now as its nearly time to pick up the kids.

When they are all snuggled in bed tonight, I plan to sew them all together, then finish the quilt on the weekend. Ohh happy days!!!
